Welcome to my website!
I'm a research scientist fascinated by biodiversity & sustainability. After 10 years in research science, my life changed when I was in a road traffic accident while on a research expedition.
Cuurently, I navigate research around my ongoing rehabiliation schedule, life with hemiplegia & accesible science as a disabled scientist.
I seek to use ecological & evolutionary science to discover environmentally sound, sustainable, and effective means of reducing or mitigating insect pests. I'm primarily interested in biological control, pest-biocontrol agent & ecological interactions as a model system to work with. I use field and lab techniques to predict the colonisation success, effectiveness, and risk assessment of biocontrol agents. I am also interested in designing
evolutionarily sustainable pest control. My work aims to provide a robust scientific basis to sustainably safeguard agriculture practices, nature-based solutions that are cost-effective interventions providing
environental, social, and economic benefits and build resilience.
I am a research scientist working to address contemporary environmental issues. These centre on human environmental modifications causing long-term environmental change or harm to human enterprises and health.
My research focuses on how we develop sustainability models applicable to humans and their enterprises, feeding back on UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) implementation, increasing competitiveness in social and economic climates.
I use new approaches to pest management to enhance the sustainability of crop production using biopesticides in heterogeneous environments to facilitate long-term evolutionarily sustainable pest control in the ENDORSE Project, a joint Newton Fund international partnership between the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) in the UK and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). ENDORSE aims to provide a new framework that minimises damage to our natural environments while sustainably safeguarding our ability to protect crops.
